E Portfolio Entry #2 "Look Around, Salve Arezzo"
Look Around, Salve Arezzo
Walking around the beautiful city of Arezzo I have noticed many things. From the breathtaking architecture to the beautiful art within the churches. Arezzo has had much significance within Italy like being a great strategic point in the hills of Italy. Arezzo is also the second city in Italy to adopt Christianity as its religion, making it very historically significant. Not to mention it is also the center of fashion of Italy and the capital of Italian gold. One encounter that I had that I realized I was no longer in the US was ordering at a restaurant. The lady taking my order did not understand what I was wanting and so I had to point and explain the best I could. The geography in Arezzo is completely different from anything I've seen in the US. The rolling hills surrounding the city are beautiful and make for an amazing view. The buildings themselves are very different from the US being that they are super old and have a Roman and slightly gothic architecture. This makes the city itself beautiful. What I've noticed with interactions around the city is that everyone judges American's. Just walking in the streets you get weird looks. However whenever you eat at a restaurant or anything the waiters/ waitresses are always respectful. A historically significant figure in Arezzo is Piero della Francesca. He painted the most famous fresco in Arezzo titled "The Legend of the True Cross". This is significant because it is a very famous fresco and thousands visit the historic piece of art.
