"Sienna"
While observing the Sienna Duomo I saw many extravagant designs and vibrant colors. Then I looked closer and saw the sculpted faces of 172 Popes. I think I relate this to leadership in PCS as well as my fraternity. Many of my peers and higher ups are constantly judging my character and actions. Just as if the Pope figures are judging the audiences actions in the Duomo.
This also relates to how we are seen on this trip, how people view us and our actions. I think an important decision I made while on this trip was trying my best to engage with the Italian students in our group. I think that they noticed this and started to be more engaged. My other team members also noticed this and started trying their best to make conversations with the students. This made the environment in our group very comfortable and open.
Influence can be a blessing and a curse. If you make one wrong decision and things fall apart in your group. However, if you make an amazing decision your group thrives. For example while I was hear me, Nick, and Jacob were trying to find a restaurant. I volunteered to map the restaurant to try to find it but instead I accidentally mapped up to a different place. They of course understood but I put a lot of pressure on myself to find the restaurant and was upset when I messed it up. I think I have pretty good influence over peers here and at home. I always bring a positive attitude to the group and make sure everyone is having an amazing time.
I think one of my best strengths is that I can observe others well and know what they're feeling. Using this I can get them involved in whatever we are doing. For example if I am in a group of friends and a new friend is there I can tell if they aren't comfortable. I see this and get them more included in the conversation to make them comfortable with the group. I use this strength almost everyday to make sure everyone around me feels at ease and comfortable.
